IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Keep your Maliko shoes out of contact with alcohol, oils, solvents and water, including exposure to rain.
If your shoes become wet, allow them to dry naturally away from any direct source of heat.
Never attempt to clean your shoes with soap or water. You may use leather care products where appropriate, carefully following the instruction information. Prior to use ensure that leather care products are spot tested in an inconspicuous area to test colourfastness.
Always keep your original proof of purchase.
Please note that Maliko has made these recommendations simply as a courtesy to those wishing to care for our products and customers who follow these guidelines are solely responsible for the result, excluding Maliko from any responsibility.
HOW TO STORE YOUR MALIKO SHOES
Always store your Maliko shoes in their care bag placed inside the shoebox and out of direct sunlight and heat. Ensure shoes with Swarovski crystals and/or hardware are stored in such a way the accessories are not pulling on any outer fabrication of the shoes. Ensure the shoes are well ventilated before storage.
HOW TO MAINTAIN THE SHAPE OF YOUR SHOES
It is only natural for the shape of the shoes to change over time. Not only will your Maliko shoes mould to the shape of your own foot but they may stretch further with extensive wear.
To maintain the shape of your shoes we recommend stuffing the shoes with un-coloured tissue paper or using a shoe tree.
HOW TO MAINTAIN THE SOLES
The soles of your Maliko shoes are made from smooth and delicate leather and will, therefore, be subject to marking upon first wear. This is not a manufacturing defect. It is a natural process and part of the normal wear of the shoes.
It is not recommended to walk on any wet surfaces as this may alter the structure of the soles and cause staining to the upper.
We do not recommend replacing the soles as this may alter the structure of the shoes.
HOW TO MAINTAIN THE LINING
The lining of your Maliko shoes is made from smooth leather. You can gently remove surface dirt on the lining of your shoes by using a clean damp cloth to wipe away any impurities. For shoes, with suede lining, you can use a soft suede brush to gently smooth the pile
HOW TO MAINTAIN THE HEEL TIPS
With extensive wear, the heel tips of your Maliko shoes may naturally deteriorate. It is recommended to change the heel tips once they start to wear down before the inner heel begins to show. This is important as having an unstable heel can lead to balancing issues and affect the shape of the entire shoe.
You can change your heel tips at a reputable cobbler.
HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR CRYSTAL ACCESSORIES
TIPS FOR CALF & NAPPA LEATHER
Calf leather is smooth and strong providing a light and durable upper for your shoes. As with all animal skins, leather will naturally wrinkle and soften with age. You can gently remove surface dirt by using a clean, dry, soft cloth.
A neutral leather conditioner can be used to maintain the softness of the leather however ensure this is spot tested and the shoes are thoroughly dry before use.
TIPS FOR METALLIC LEATHER
The metallic leather is a delicate form of leather that uses a laminated finish to provide a smooth and glossy surface. Due to its sensitivity, metallic leathers may mark easily so we recommend avoiding contact with sharp or abrasive objects and surfaces. You can gently remove surface dirt by using a clean, dry, soft cloth.
Do not apply any leather care products on metallic leather.
TIPS FOR PATENT LEATHER
The smooth and glossy appearance of patent leather is achieved with a varnish coating providing a durable outer layer for your shoes. To maintain the gloss of patent leather you can use a soft cloth to gently remove surface dirt. Due to its sensitivity to colour transfer ensure you store the shoes in their care bags away from any other leather materials, direct light and/or heat.
TIPS FOR SUEDE
Timeless suede is favoured for its warm, velvety feel and high absorbency of rich colours. It is natural for colour variations to appear due to the rub of the leather. You can gently remove surface dirt and unify the pile of the fabrication by using a soft suede brush. To maintain the richness of colour, ensure the shoes are stored in their care bags away from any direct light or heat.
A waterproofing spray may help protect the suede from light water contact. Always spot test products first to ensure colourfastness.
TIPS FOR CALF HAIR
Calf or ‘pony’ hair is calf leather without the pelt removed. It is natural to find colour variations and for calf hair to shed hairs from time to time. You can gently remove surface dirt using a clean, dry, soft cloth by rubbing in the direction of the hair growth. Abrasion may cause irreversible bald patches, so it is important to avoid contact with sharp or abrasive objects and surfaces
Do not apply any leather care products to your calf hair shoes.
TIPS FOR FUR
It is in the nature of fur to sometimes shed hairs which should settle with continued wear. If the fur gets wet, allow the product to dry naturally and out of direct heat. You can gently remove surface dirt by using a clean, dry, soft cloth. Abrasion may cause irreversible bald patches, so it is important to avoid contact with sharp or abrasive objects and surfaces.
Where we do source fur in our collections we aim to do so responsibly.
Consult a leather and fur expert should further assistance be required.
TIPS FOR EXOTIC SKINS
The naturally textured surfaces of exotic skins are delicate, so it is important to avoid contact with sharp or abrasive objects and surfaces. Atmospheric conditions, light exposure and general usage over time may cause scales to naturally lift and/or change colour. You can gently remove surface dirt by using a clean, dry, soft cloth however be mindful not to pull or rub the scales.
You can apply a colourless cream to maintain suppleness of the leather however always conduct a spot test first to ensure colourfastness.
Where we source luxurious snake and lizard skins we aim to do so responsibly.
